Site Unseen

From 2001-2003, as part of my first encounter with a digital still camera, I took up a number of assignments to photograph conditions that might be true, if unverifiable. Exploring the role of contextual knowledge in the construction of visual information, I shot according to strict parameters and displayed the results as captioned indexes. I later went on to shoot part of the project as a collaboration with the members of New Catalogue, a "conceptual stock photography" company based in Chicago, IL.

• pictures of specific places in New York from the highest point in Kent County, Michigan
• pictures of New York from highest points in Midwestern counties
