Chronozone 2:
Invisible Network
DATE: May 2004
LOCATION: Chicago / Bratislava
EVENT: Versionfest
2004
Individuals in Chicago
and Bratislava attempt to communicate through rhythms beat on television
screens during the hourly headline news segments of cable news networks.
Instructions:
- We will construct two simultaneous videos in
two parts of the world, and play them back later on two televisions.
- Each video will be constructed of a single take,
shot with a stationary videocamera.
- The camera's frame will consist of a tv, tuned
to a 24-hour cable news channel, the time visible.
- At a pre-arranged hour, we will each turn on
our cameras, in time to catch the hour's headlines.
- As soon as the headlines begin, we will each
begin banging out a rhythm on our tv monitors. We will continue to
beat regularly until the news goes to commercial.
- When the commercial begins, we will turn off
our cameras.
